SSPX bishops-elect hail from big families
The announcement comes after months of speculation regarding the names and number of the future bishops of the SSPX.

(LifeSiteNews) — The Society of Saint Pius X’s General House in Menzingen, Switzerland, has announced the names of the four men to be consecrated to the episcopate on July 1, 2026. Strikingly, they all come from big families.

The bishops-elect are:

• Father Pascal Schreiber (Swiss)
  
• Father Michael Goldade (American)
  
• Father Michel Poinsinet de Sivry (French)
  
• Father Marc Hanappier (French).
  

Menzingen issued a communiqué with short biographies of each of the four future bishops, which is reproduced below. The biographies reveal that Fr. Schreiber was one of five children, while Fr. Goldade, Fr. Poinsinet de Sivry, and Fr. Hanappier all come from families with ten siblings.

The announcement of the names – and the number of future bishops – follows months of speculation since the SSPX’s announcement of their consecration plans on February 2, 2026.

The announcement comes 13 days after Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith published a statement warning the SSPX that consecrating bishops without papal mandate would be a “schismatic act” and referred to excommunications.
